Fox Meadow Elementary School to host 'Poetry Park Live' July 7

Fox Meadow Elementary School in South Elgin invites students, families, and school staff to a "Poetry Park Live" event at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 7, at Black Hawk Park, 1479 Blackhawk Circle in South Elgin.

The "book-nic" will include poetry readings, treats from local sponsors, giveaways, and summer reading prizes - including free books - for students who bring their reading logs.

The school also will be collecting book donations for its annual book swap in the fall.

All elementary students are encouraged to continue reading for the districtwide Summer Reading Challenge.

U-46 serves families in 11 communities: Bartlett, Elgin, Hanover Park, South Elgin, Streamwood and Wayne, as well as portions of Carol Stream, Hoffman Estates, St. Charles, Schaumburg, and West Chicago. In total, the district encompasses 90 square miles within the Fox River Valley, approximately 45 minutes west of downtown Chicago, and includes communities within Cook, DuPage and Kane counties. More than 39,000 pre-kindergarten through 12th-graders attend the 57 district schools and programs.
