HE Parks Names June's Best of Hoffman

Each month the Hoffman Estates Park District (HE Parks) staff and commissioners review the district's volunteers and participants, searching for men, women, and children who best exemplify the mission and vision of the park district to recognize as the Best of Hoffman at a Park Board meeting.

This month HE Parks had a lot to celebrate. At its June 26 Park Board meeting, the Park Board of Commissioners named had many to thank by naming them the "Best of Hoffman".

The REALTORs of RE/MAX Suburban and the Mainstreet Organization of REALTORs were named Best of Hoffman for their volunteer work on the new Chino Park Garden Plot project and for helping to secure at $3,500 community-based grant from the National Association of REALTORS to fund the project.

George Bedell and Larry Stone, members of the park district's 50+ Center have donated numerous hours to help the park district's foundation, the Friends of HE Parks, which is the charitable arm of the park district. Bedell has volunteered for the Scott R. Triphahn Celebri-Tee Golf Outing for the past three years and Stone for the past two years. The two were recognized as volunteers who have sold a record $2,490 in raffle tickets in one day.

The park district relies on volunteers who contribute their time, energy and enthusiasm. With an abundance of programs, events, and acres of parkland, the HE Parks is a great place to lend time or talent. Whether you want to assist with a special event, coach a sports team, beautify a park or work with children, the park district welcomes contributors. All volunteers must submit an application, which includes a back ground check.
