Players for Pits to host its first 5K walk fundraiser July 14

Join Players for Pits for its first 5K walk, "The IBB (Intentional Walk) for Pitties, from 7 a.m. to noon Saturday, July 14, at Mount St. Mary Park, off Route 31 in St. Charles.

In baseball, intentional walk is a strategic way for a pitcher to walk a batter on purpose, to either set-up a better defensive scenario or because the match-up favors the batter over the pitcher.

The 5K will wind through the beautiful scenery of downtown St. Charles river walk into Wheeler Park in Geneva.

Tickets are $35, with a $4.01 fee.

The first 30 paid registrations will received a free swag bag as well as an event T-Shirt.

All tickets purchased before Saturday, July 7, will receive a free event T-shirt, as well.

Day-of ticket sales are $40 and include an event t-shirt if shirts are available at registration.

Strollers and children are welcome to walk with their parents, but please be mindful of the runners and stay to the right of the path. Children under 10 years old do not require a paid registration and will not receive a free T-shirt or bib number. If your child would like a bib number, they will require a full priced registration. Waivers will need to be signed for all children at the event before the race starts.
