Aurora 88s roller derby opens at home June 23

Support your local roller derby league, the Aurora 88s, at the Aurora Skate Center in its first home bout of the season.

The Aurora 88s will take on the Illiana Derby Dames on Saturday, June 23, at the center, 34W113 Montgomery Road, Aurora. Doors open at 5 p.m., with the whistle start at 6 p.m.

There will be entertainment at halftime, and you can try your luck at the 50/50 raffle.

A concession stand is available at the rink, along with a bake sale supporting the Aurora 88s; vegan options available as well. Check out the different vendors, as well as the Skater Outpost, featuring goods made by the skaters, with the profit going to the skaters.

Advance tickets are $10; visit www.brownpapertickets.com/event/2995220 or purchase it directly from your favorite 88 member, skater, referee, or NSO (non-skating official).

Tickets at the door are $12. Kids younger than age 12 are admitted free.

After the bout, be sure to join them for some craft beer, live music, and dancing at the after-party at the Two Brothers Roundhouse, 205 N. Broadway Ave., Aurora.
