Please Keep Parkways Clear Before $4th of July Parade

Everyone loves a parade! The Festival's annual Fourth of July parade will step off at 10 a.m., July 4, from Oakton and Highland Streets. The Village asks all parade-goers to "Celebrate the Fourth on the Fourth" and refrain from the practice of "reserving" space along the parkway of the annual Fourth of July Parade until 7 p.m., July 3, the night before the parade.

The educational campaign stems from the increased practice of placing items in the parkways days prior to the parade in order to ensure a good viewing spot. Parade spectators are asked to be "good neighbors" and not place chairs in a specific area of the public parkway; not use blankets and tarps secured by stakes or rocks; nor rope-off, nor tape off an area with stakes.

Reserving parade-viewing seats in the parkway is problematic for those who wish to mow or water the parkways, or placing recycling, refuse or yardwaste items on the parkways for pick-up. It's also difficult for other spectators who come on the morning of the Parade to find a location from where they can enjoy one of the most popular parades in the Northwest suburbs.

The Village thanks you for your cooperation!

The parade route includes starting at Oakton and Highland, traveling to Dunton Avenue, south on Dunton to Miner Street and then traveling east on Miner Street to Recreation Park, 500 E. Miner Street.

The parade is organized by Frontier Days, Inc., a volunteer group of over 350 volunteers, which has planned the annual Frontier Days celebration over the 4th of July holiday for over 40 years
