Elk Grove Village to Sandblast & Paint Residential Street Lights This Summer

This summer, the Village of Elk Grove is sandblasting and repainting its residential street lights. The contractor hired to perform this work will begin in the southwest portion of the Village and will continue throughout other residential areas as weather and time allows.

The sandblasting and painting process takes several days to complete. Containment and scaffolding are set up around the street light before the sandblasting begins. Once the sandblasting is completed, the paint primer is applied along with a top coat application. This process will be dusty and noisy at times, but when the job is complete, the protection for the light pole should be excellent.

During the sandblasting and painting process, the street light will not be functioning. Lights will be returned to service as soon as the work has been completed. Any street name signs displaced during the sandblasting and painting will be placed on temporary posts and Village crews will re-install them after the paint has fully cured.

This new paint can be damaged by taping signs or notices to painted surfaces. Residents are asked not to tape any signs or announcements to any Village street lights or poles.
