Take a free tour of backyard paradises this summer

Take time out of your Saturday routines this summer for a mini-vacation from the ordinary by enjoying an extraordinary free tour of stunning backyard oases with beautiful water features at this summer's Water & Garden Showcase.

Presented by Aquascape Construction, this close-to-home, relaxing and fun outdoor event includes tours of more than two dozen walkable residential properties in the western suburbs, plus programs that provide information and tips on what's trending in outdoor living.

Open to the public rain or shine, visit at your own pace, one property or all, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturdays in the following communities: June 16 in the St. Charles area; July 21 in the Naperville area; and Aug. 18 in the Aurora area.

Finish off the water gardening season at Aquascape corporate headquarters in St. Charles with an evening of inspiration on Saturday, Sept. 15, from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Learn about everything from fountains to cascading waterfalls to koi varieties and enjoy special end-of-season savings on a variety of water features.

In June, July and August, visitors to the area's only exclusive outdoor Water & Garden Showcase can enjoy the multisensory effects of water, beautiful plants in bloom and other exciting landscape elements. At a home on each tour, guests can enrich their DIY knowledge through special short programs ranging from creating natural backyard habitats to tips for growing gorgeous gardens.

As visitors to the 2018 Water & Garden Showcase will see firsthand, water features can be installed into virtually any space, from large wooded properties to small-space patios. The tours spotlight a variety of features designed for size, functionality and sustainability, such as bubbling urns, cascading bowls, rainwater harvesting systems, wading pools, three-tiered waterfalls and meandering streams.

The featured gardens mirror the beauty of the water features, with a diverse array of plants and trees. Guests can see and learn about colorful aquatic life including koi, catfish, goldfish, turtles and frogs.

The event is designed for visitors of all ages, including singles, couples and families. Garden clubs, neighborhood or business groups are welcome.

A free-will offering at each event supports The Aquascape Foundation, developed to promote awareness of water as one of our most precious resources through environmental, educational and philanthropic efforts.
