Mundelein's first Beach Bash includes youth Ninja Warrior Competition, Cardboard Regatta June 16

The Mundelein Park and Recreation District has re-christened the event formerly known as the Community Picnic as the Beach Bash this year. The event will be held from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday, June 16, at Diamond Lake Beach, 1016 Diamond Lake Road.

Admission is free. Parking will be available across from the beach.

The all-ages event starts with a fitness class on the beach at 10 a.m. Beachgoers can swim; take to the lake aboard a paddle boat, kayak or standup paddleboard; and enjoy games and other attractions, along with free lemonade, log rolling and more.

Attendees can build a sand castle to showcase and compete for prizes.

There will also be a youth Ninja Warrior Competition for ages 6-12 at 1 p.m. with medals to be awarded.

Spectators can watch the Cardboard Regatta at 3 p.m.

Teams will competed in boats constructed using only cardboard, duct tape and paint. Awards will be presented to the fastest boats in each class, along with awards based on creativity, enthusiasm, and more.

The Wonder Lake Ski Show Team will top off the event with a performance at 6 p.m. The beach will be closed upon completion of the ski show.
