Viking Midsummer Festival returns June 17

The annual Viking Midsummer Festival will be 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, June 17, at Good Templar Park, 528 East Side Drive in Geneva. It will be held rain or shine.

Celebrate the 125th anniversary of Viking ship replica, an artifact of the 1893 Columbian Exposition in Chicago.

Swordsmen/actors will perform at 10:30 a.m. and 3 p.m.

There will be live folk music with Chicago Spelmanslag at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. The Nordic Folk Dancers of Chicago perform at 1 p.m.

Join the traditional Maypole raising at noon

The festival features dozens of Viking re-enactors, encampments, and displays; Scandinavian and American foods; Viking and Scandinavian vendors; and Kubb & Viking children's games.

Take a guided tour of the 1893 Viking ship.

Admission is $10 per person at the gate; children, age 12 or younger, are free. Parking is free.
