Celebrating 'The Art of the Blues' at Water Street Studios

Water Street Studios' new exhibition "Art of the Blues" will be on display in coordination with the third annual Blues and Roots on Water Street Festival, a one-day, two-stage, five-act, indoor, intimate music-filled event on Saturday, June 9. Tickets are on sale now.

Water Street Studios' galleries will display the juried artwork of 46 artists, for a total of 93 pieces in a variety of 2-D and 3-D mediums, all touching on the theme of the "blues." All artwork on display will be available for purchase.

"We are music-centric this June at Water Street Studios and I couldn't be more excited about it! The Blues and Roots on Water Street Festival is one of my favorite events that we do at Water Street Studios. We have the opportunity to partner with the Fox Valley Music Foundation, Kiss the Sky, and BEI to create a festival vibe right here in downtown Batavia," said Danielle Hollis, executive director at Water Street Studios.

"The only thing that has been missing is the music-related artwork on the walls. But this year, we've got it all."

The opening reception of "Art of the Blues" the night before the festival from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday, June 8. The Best of Show will receive a $500 award at 8 p.m.

In addition to viewing the artwork and meeting the artists who created it, there will also be small selection of appetizers by Gaetano's Restaurant, wine, beer provided by Solemn Oath Brewery, kids activities, open artist studios, and more.

The exhibit will be on display until Sunday, July 8.

Enjoy an evening of blues and roots music, featuring: The Cash Box Kings, Devil in a Woodpile, Dave Specter, Beth Lee & The Breakups, and Anderlik, Otto & Church from 6 to 11:30 p.m. Saturday, June 9. Food by River's Edge Bar & Grill. Beer provided by Solemn Oath Brewery. Whiskey tasting provided by Whiskey Acres Distilling Co. Coffee brewed and served by FreshGround Roasting.
