Fox Valley Festival Chorus presents 'Music American Style' June 10

The Fox Valley Festival Chorus will present "Music American Style" at 3 p.m. Sunday, June 10, at the Rosary High School auditorium, 901 N. Edgelawn Drive in Aurora.

It features songs by Leonard Bernstein, Stephen Sondheim, George and Ira Gershwin, and Mickey Mouse! Selections include medleys from "Jersey Boys," "The Wizard of Oz," "West Side Story," "Showboat," Disney films, and more.

"Illinois By Thy Rivers Gently Flowing" will honor the state's bicentennial, and "In Flanders Fields," written by Peter Mitchell (1936-2017), pays tribute to the Geneva composer.

Under the direction of Mary Beth McCarthy, and accompanied by Bonnie Werthmann, the chorus includes more than 60 members from throughout the Fox Valley.

The Fox Valley Festival Chorus is Chicagoland's original community chorus, and has been providing musical entertainment in the area since 1955.

The chorus has performed at Lincoln Center, Carnegie Hall, and most recently at St. Peter's Basilica in June 2017 on a 10-day performance tour throughout Italy.

Tickets are $15, $10 for seniors, or $5 for those aged 12 and younger.

Rosary's air-conditioned auditorium features stadium seating. Accessible seating is available. Tickets may be purchased in advance from any chorus member, or at the door. All are welcome to enjoy refreshments at a free reception following the concert.
