Naperville Park District unveils playground renovations

Naperville Park District is completing the renovation of five playgrounds and invites the community to a series of reopening celebrations on Tuesdays beginning June 12 and ending July 17. Each of the events will begin at 5 p.m.

Dates and locations of the five playground reopening celebrations are as follows:

• June 12: Pembroke Park at 28 Pembroke Road.

• June 19: Century Farms Park at 715 Sigmund Road.

• June 26: Farmington Park at 1132 Kenilworth Circle.

• July 10: University Heights Park at 1315 River Oak Drive.

• July 17: Yorkshire Manor Park at 1031 Buckingham Drive.

Neighbors are invited to bring their families and friends to participate in a brief ribbon-cutting ceremony, enjoy refreshments and giveaways, and explore the new play equipment.

"These renovated playgrounds, along with more than 70 other playgrounds throughout Naperville, provide outdoor recreation close to home, and are an important part of the park district's annual capital projects," Director of Planning Eric Shutes said.

"Residents helped choose the playground pieces, which are designed to be accessible, safe and fun for all kids."

In the event of inclement weather, the playground celebrations will be rescheduled for 5 p.m. on the following day. Residents can check the weather cancellations tab for the latest updates at http://www.napervilleparks.org/cancellations.
