Fox Valley Aero Club will host annual Family Fly Day June 2

The Fox Valley Aero Club invites you to its annual Family Fly Day from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday, June 2, at the flight field, 3821 Karl Madsen Drive in St. Charles. Admission is free.

The guest student RC Pilot will be loaned a standard RC transmitter to hold that is connected to a Buddy Box held by an experienced RC instructor.

The student will be given instruction before and during the test flight. The instructor can take control of the RC model if needed.

Since 1929, the Fox Valley Aero Club has demonstrated dedication to the sport of model aviation and the hobby of model building by hosting exciting public airshows and special events like the Family Fun Fly.

"This is a great family outing to directly experience the fun of Radio Control Model Airplane flying," Dale Gathman said. "We offer a chance for the whole family to test-fly a radio control airplane. Even if you have never flown a Model RC plane before this is a chance to do some hands on flying while under the guidance of our RC Flight instructors. Today's advanced RC Models make it easier to fly then ever before."

Tom Flint of the Fox Valley Aero Club said, "We like to offer to our community a chance for the whole family to get off the couch, put the iPads and iPhones away and come enjoy the educational value of model aviation.

"This event is just one of many our club sponsors to help educate our community on the role of models in the development of aircraft through history."

A short air show by the club's experienced RC pilots will end the afternoon event.

The flight field is located west of Randall and Route 38. Go west on Route 38, to the light at Peck Road, turn south to Karl Madsen Drive on the left. Follow the signs to the flight field.
