Fine Line Arts Festival to feature art demos, music and more June 2

Stop by the Fine Line Arts Festival from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, June 2, at the Fine Line Creative Arts Center, 37W570 Bolcum Road in St. Charles. Admission and parking are free.

This is a chance to try your hand at indigo dyeing with Dagmar Klos; basket making with Ellen Phillips; making fused glass tiles with Amy Simpson; or glazing your own pre-fired ceramics for a Raku firing on-site.

There will be a materials fee involved in these activities.

Watch the free demonstrations by some of the Fine Line instructors, including machine knitting with Connie Blieszner; pastel painting with Carol Zack; watercolor painting with Gale Trausch; papermaking with Carol Kazwick; blacksmithing with Dan Caldwell. There also will be pottery wheel demonstrations by various Fine Line instructors.

They will be offering free tours of Fine Line facilities and the adjoining prairie.

Join a free "make-and-take" session using monoprint processes.

Shop the Dempsey Artisan Shop located in the barn for local artists' work including jewelry, pottery, scarves and more.

On-site food is available for purchase.

There also will be musical entertainment. Musician and vocalist Ryan Calwell, fluent in rock, jazz, funk, and electronic styles, will open the fest from 10 to 10:30 a.m., followed by Finn Atwood with Americana, soul, classic rock, and modern hits from 10:30 to 11 a.m. and The Regular will offer indie/folk music from 11 to 11:45 a.m., and Jake Pearson will perform from 11:45 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Invisible Cartoons, a "smile" rock band from Aurora, will perform from 12:30 to 1:15 p.m., Jake Mack will perform roots, Americana, rock and blues from 1:15 to 2:15 p.m. Doug Feltz from Bristol, Ill. will wrap up the fest with Americana, rock and blues from 2:15 to 3 p.m.
