Schaumburg library summer kick-off set for June 2

Storytimes, crafts, games and a musical performance will all be part of the Schaumburg Library's Summer Challenge Kickoff from 2:30 to 5:30 p.m., Saturday, June 2, at the Central Library, 130 S. Roselle Road in Schaumburg. This year's theme is "Make a Better World," with many of the activities related to that concept.

All of the kickoff events are free and do not require registration. Inside the library, all ages can try their hands at screen printing with artist William Estrada, listen to stories, make a variety of crafts, or participate in games. At 4:30 p.m., the fun moves outdoors to Town Square as the five-piece band Sweet Sheiks offers up popular music from the 1920s and '30s with early jazz, blues and Americana classics.
