Reading Takes You Everywhere with Palatine Library, June 1 - August 15
Sign up for Reading Takes You Everywhere-this year's Summer Reading Program at Palatine Library-between Friday, June 1, and Wednesday, August 15. The theme is a reminder that no matter the interest, books give you the opportunity to explore, discover, and experience people, places, and things that you would not normally encounter. Plus, studies show that students who are encouraged to read through the summer perform better in reading and math when returning to school. Whatever your age, come sign up, read a new adventure, and discover the many fun activities happening all summer-long! District cardholders of all ages can visit www.palatinelibrary.org and log their own reading progress, or sign up at any Palatine Library location. After registering, receive a scratch-off card to play a game of chance! You could win an out-of-this-world prize of your choice, sponsored by the Friends of the Palatine Library. Plus, the scratch-off card has amazing freebies and discounts around town-thanks to our 2018 Summer Reading Program Partners: Arlington Lanes, Buona Beef, Café Fourteen, California Pizza Kitchen, Culver's, JP Wood Martial Arts America, Papa John's Pizza, Photos Hotdogs, and Sarpino's Pizzeria.
Bring the whole family to the Kick-off Party on Saturday, June 2, from 12:00 - 3:00 p.m. for an exciting selection of games and activities including BINGO, face painting, prizes, and more. Stop by the craft station where you can make your own dragon to take home. Juggling Funny Stories from 1:00 - 2:00 p.m., is our feature show with Chris Fascione - enjoy funny stories, mime, and juggling. Tickets are available Saturday, May 26 to valid District cardholders. At the Kick-off Party sign up for summer reading and enter a drawing for your chance to win a two-pack of day-pool passes, donated by the Palatine Park District; or a variety of indoor and outdoor activity passes donated by the Hoffman Estates Park District; or an amazing Lou Malnati's Pizzeria gift basket. You must be registered and present at the Kick-off Party to enter. Winners will be notified by Thursday, June 7.
After finishing the Reading Takes You Everywhere program, participants receive the ever-popular Grand Prize t-shirt or tote bag - that glows-in-the-dark this year - generously donated by the Friends of the Palatine Library. Claim yours through Friday, August 31.
