Fund raised for Pakistani deprived children

By Moon Khan

Apna Wada Apse (Our Promise to You) is a nonprofit organization, created by Pakistani Americans, seeks to empower deprived communities by providing them with the basic necessities of life so that they can build their future and contribute towards the development of self sustaining communities.

Kudos to Apna Wada for putting together an informative and inspiring fundraising evening, which was attended by Congressman Raja Krishnamoorthi, Judge Linda Davenport, Daniel Hebreard, who is running for the president of the Forest Preserve District of DuPage County and hundreds of people and especially mothers, who enjoyed the Mother's Day cake.

Apna Wada board members exhorted the audience to make charity as part of their lifestyle. Tariq Muhammad, Asif SaleemSaleem, Khalil Rehman, Babar Qamar, and Ahmad Ahmed Rana worked hard to make this event successful, which was held at Shalimar in Addison on Sunday evening.

In Pakistan, over 22 million kids ages 6-17 are out of school and 70% of these children have never attended school.

Moreover, out of the 26 million births in Pakistan yearly, only 52 percent are delivered by a health professional.
