Learn about restoration work at Fabyan Forest Preserve June 11

On Monday, June 11, the Valley of the Fox Sierra Club will feature a guided hiking tour by Jay Womack, showcasing the restoration work being completed at the Fabyan Forest Preserve in Geneva.

Womack coordinates the volunteers and work program for the Fabyan restoration. He is a landscape architect with Huff & Huff, his design philosophy is rooted in a lifelong affinity for the ecosystems of the Midwest and in the belief that people need to be connected to the environment, a philosophy closely aligned with Aldo Leopold's "Land Ethic" and E.O. Wilson's "Biophilia" theory. He is passionate about the environment, connecting, people to nature, and stewarding the next generation of naturalists. Come see what Womack and his troop of dedicated volunteers have accomplished so far.

Meet at 7 p.m. at Shelter No. 4, which is on the east side of Route 25, just north of Fabyan Parkway. Bring a snack to share, water in a reusable container. Remember to wear appropriate hiking shoes and use protection from insect pests.

Participants will need to sign a waiver before beginning the hiking portion of the meeting. For details, visit www.sierraclub.org/illinois/valley-fox.
