St. Luke School-Itasca hits it out of the park at its first McDonald's 'FUNdraiser'

On Thursday, May 10, St Luke School in Itasca held its first McTeacher's Night at the McDonald's on Irving Park Road.

It was a perfect spring night for a fundraising event and the St. Luke families all came to support the school and see their teachers and principal behind the counter and throughout the restaurant. The teachers and staff were happy to serve freshly prepared meals to students and their families and raise some money for St Luke.

Several of the school's teachers and staff worked at the McTeacher's Night including Principal Patti Fagalde. The McTeacher jobs included greeting guests, cleaning the lobby, working the front counter, selling pies, and making refreshing ice cream treats.

Teachers Kirsten Schnabel and Jonathan Genson each dressed in the pie costume during the event and were assisted by many different pie sellers which included Karen Peters, Camille Peacock, Laura Fischer, and Terry Wodiakowski.

Other St. Luke teachers that were their pitching in for the schools very first McTeacher's Night were Mary Vogel at the drive-thru window, Allison Witowicz, Principal Patti Fagalde and Jennifer Ebert worked the front counter, Camille Peacock also made ice cream treats, as well as greeting guests along with Jonathan Genson before he took a turn as the pie guy towards the end of the night.

The families, students and staff from St. Luke's had a wonderful time and were happy to be part of the school's first McTeacher's Night to raise funds for the St. Luke Library renovation with the addition of the new S.T.E.A.M Lab, which stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math.

This effort is a $50,000 project that St. Luke's, as a private school, is exempt from receiving government grants. They will be the first school in Itasca to have this lab which will benefit their day school kids as well as their before and after school, and camp programs that they offer to the community.
