Step toward a healthier you at annual Employee Fitness Walk

Slip on your sneakers and stretch out your legs at Schaumburg Park District's 29th Annual Employee Fitness Walk.

In honor of National Employee Health and Fitness Day, the one-mile walk is set for 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., May 16 at Olympic Park, 1675 E. Old Schaumburg Road. Schaumburg business employees are encouraged to participate.

"A lot of people spend most of their workday sitting, so it's great to get people out of the office and outside walking and socializing with others," said Kathleen Benson, Bock Center manager. "Plus, taking a break from work can improve your mood and increase productivity."

The event includes raffle prizes, free health screenings from AMITA Health, musical entertainment and a lunch from Potbelly Sandwich Shop. The first 200 registered walkers will receive a gift.

Cost is $15 per person. Registration is required, deadline is May 11. Registration forms are available at parkfun.com.
