Northbrook Court Macy's Partners with YMCA to Fund Summer Camp for Kids in Need

Macy's at Northbrook Court is partnering with the North Suburban YMCA to give kids a priceless summer camp experience. From Tuesday, May 1 to Sunday, May 22, the Northbrook Macy's department store invites shoppers to round-up their in-store purchase to the nearest dollar and donate the difference (up to $.99) to support camp scholarships through the North Suburban YMCA's Strong Kids Fund.

The Y's camp scholarship program helps kids, especially underserved youth, attend camp, where they are introduced to new experiences that build confidence and develop skills to help them reach their full potential. At the North Suburban YMCA, the Strong Kids Fund makes camp available to children from families in need. In addition, Strong Kids Fund assistance is available to make all other Y classes and benefits accessible to individuals and families in need. More than one out of five participants in NSYMCA programs receive some level of support from the Strong Kids fund.

Macy's stores nationwide are supporting their local Y camp programs for the second year in a row. In 2017, Macy's raised more than $975,000 for Y camps nationwide, sending more than 8,000 kids to camp who would have been unable to attend otherwise. Nationally, the Y is one of the largest providers of programs, conducting 1,850 day camps and 320 overnight camps across the country for youth and teens.

The partnership with the Y is part of Macy's The Great Escape summer campaign, which features the latest fashion for the season, new designer collaborations, and in-store events.

"We are extremely grateful to Macy's at Northbrook Court and its customers for their support of the NSYMCA's Strong Kids Fund," notes Kim Nyren, North Suburban YMCA Director of Community Investment. "This program makes it easy for individuals to make small donations to the Y, which add up to a wonderful impact for the children who benefit from our camps. We encourage everyone to shop at Macy's before May 22 and be sure to round up their purchases to help kids in our community."
