Grade school parents, students invited to Dist. 214 career showcase

Parents of students in fourth through eighth grades in High School District 214's boundaries are invited to the Future Ready Showcase on Monday, May 14, an evening that shows District 214's Career Pathways program in action.

At the event, talented students from across District 214 will highlight their innovative work in areas such as architecture, engineering, entrepreneurship, app development and manufacturing. Parents are encouraged to bring their children.

The goal is to help future District 214 parents understand the Career Pathways program and how students can explore their interest areas and discover careers while in high school. The robust Career Pathways program provides all District 214 students with rigorous academic courses, access to early college credits and industry certifications, and personalized, work-based learning experiences. Students can choose from pathways such as aviation, business management, culinary arts, engineering, health sciences, IT and manufacturing.

The evening begins at 4 p.m. when District 214 students showcase their work (computer apps, high mileage vehicles and robots, among others) through interactive displays. Between 6:30 and 8:30 p.m., attendees can watch District 214 entrepreneurship students pitch their startups to a panel of judges during the Startup Showcase, a Shark Tank-style competition, and see the designs of our architectural students in the Architectural Showcase.
