MCCD to host Opening Day with new app and exhibit May 6

Celebrate both the introduction of a new hiking app and the opening of a new interactive exhibit at Opening Day: Interactive Exhibit & Hiking App Site Tour: The Changing Views of Prairieview with McHenry County Conservation District from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. Sunday, May 6, at Prairieview Education Center, 2112 Behan Road, Crystal Lake.

The hiking app guides you through the restored prairies and savannas of the Silver Creek Conservation Area where you will enjoy beautiful views and vistas. The exhibit features seasonal photographs of select vistas from the trail. During this free program we will unveil additional pictures and some interesting stories about the history of the site. Who lived here? What did they do? How did it become a Conservation District site? What did it look like before? Why is there a big R on the chimney? Discover the answers to these questions and more as we explore "The Changing Views of Prairieview." Note: This is a permanent exhibit; if you can't make opening day, stop in anytime during open hours: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday or 12:30 to 4:30 p.m. Saturday. The exhibit is closed Sundays.

Download from iTunes or Google Play, the Prairie State Hiking App featuring: "The Changing Views of Prairieview"; "Glacial Park"; "A Paddle down Nippersink Creek"; and other sites around the state for 99 cents.
