Footprints Tap Ensemble of Libertyville commissioned for a school assembly

Footprints Tap Ensemble is a non-profit pre-professional youth tap dance organization in residence at Talent Forum in Libertyville. Footprints mission is to carry on the legacy of great tap masters and educate others in the art and history of tap dance. Footprints have some exciting things coming up in fulfilling that mission.

There is a saying in Footprints, "Once a Footprint always a Footprint." That could not be truer. A former Footprints member is now a schoolteacher at Oriole Lane Elementary School in Mequon, Wisconsin. Oriole Lane Elementary recently commissioned Footprints Tap Ensemble to perform for the entire K-5 school. Footprints invited other companies in residence at Talent Forum such as, Forum Dance Theatre, a 501c3 contemporary company, Forum Starz, a jazz company, and Forum Squad, a hip-hop company to join in the performance. It was a great show. Studio owner, Shelley Hoselton, commented, "We just want to inspire these kids who don't have much access to the arts." The 400 K-5 students were riveted for 45 minutes of various dances. Even the teachers have been inspired to seek out tap classes after watching Footprints Tap Ensemble perform.

In addition to the Oriole Lane Elementary School assembly, this show was brought to the residents of Lambs Farm. It was so much fun even the residents had a chance to join the dancers and bust a move.

Footprints Tap Ensemble is looking forward to performing at the Power of Dance Competition and Talent Forum's June recital. Be sure to check out Footprints Tap Ensemble on Saturday June 16 in front of the Ansel B. Cook House during Libertyville Days.

Be on the lookout for our Tap Dance Celebration on June 23 open to all dancers ages 9-18. It will be a FUN and FREE afternoon with refreshments and tap dancing!
