Chicago Sand Volleyball set to provide premier youth training in second season of program

After achieving a series of exciting benchmarks in its 2017 debut, Chicago Sand Volleyball is reaching for even greater heights as a boys and girls program in the 2018 summer season.

CSV is the largest boys sand volleyball program in the Midwest. To provide training for even more athletes, Chicago Sand Volleyball is partnering with several Chicago-area indoor clubs, including Serve City, Chicago Bounce, Club Momentum, Hitmen and Rampage.

Chicago Sand Volleyball enjoyed numerous accomplishments in its first year in 2017, highlighted by qualifying 22 boys players for the USA National Championships and four more boys for the HP A1 National Championships. CSV also graduated five men who now are playing on Division I, II, or III collegiate indoor teams.

"We are entering into a time where the sand game is rapidly exploding around the country," says Chicago Sand Volleyball Owner and President Tim Maruyama, "and we could not be more excited to lead the charge in the development of the sport."

CSV invites boys and girls ages 11 to 18 to join its national and traditional programs and compete in local, regional, and national tournaments this summer. Over 100 athletes have already enrolled in the program, and CSV anticipates adding nearly 100 more by the time the season begins in June.

Chicago Sand Volleyball's national program is the premier training and competitive experience for athletes who are serious about improving and competing in the sand. Players in the CSV national program will train with a specific partner all summer on Fridays from 9 to 11 a.m. starting June 7 and ending August 6 at Four Lakes Resort in Lisle. This time frame is designed for the best athletes to work in small groups with national coaches. They will have the opportunity to train alongside current AVP players, coaches, and indoor professional players.

The goal of the national program is to have the best players in Illinois compete on the national level in some of the following events:

June 9 - Montrose Beach, Chicago USA Beach National Qualifier

July 19 to 21 (U12 and U16) - Siesta Key, Florida USA Beach National Championship

July 22 to 24 (U14 and U18) - Siesta Key, Florida USA Beach National Championship

July 24 to 26 - Hermosa Beach, California AVP First National Championship

July 30 to August 1 - Manhattan Beach, California USA A1 National Championship

August 4 and 5 - Montrose Beach, Chicago Boys Midwest Championship hosted by CSV and sponsored by P1440

August 18 and 19 - AVP First National Club Championship (girls only)

CSV also features a traditional program for athletes ages 11 to 18. The traditional program is geared both to national program athletes who want maximum training exposure on the court, guys and girls new to sand volleyball and athletes who don't yet have the time to commit to the national program.

The traditional program is designed for athletes of all ages and backgrounds. Upon completing this program, athletes should expect to see significant improvement in their indoor game, increased court speed and jumping ability, and greater court awareness.

The traditional program offers two practices per week, launching on June 6 and concluding on August 2. Families can choose traditional program practices at CSV's north campus in Northbrook, main campus in Downers Grove or west campus in Winfield.

Besides teaching the techniques, tactics and strategies of sand volleyball, CSV also helps traditional program athletes find tournaments to compete in around the Chicago area, including its own boys events June 22, June 29, July 13, and July 27 in Lisle.
