Honor Mother Earth on Mother's Day at Schweitzer Environmental Center

On Sunday, May 13, the Schweitzer Environmental Center invites you to honor Mother Earth while tending to native gardens from 12:30 to 3 p.m.

The center is located at 16N690 Sleepy Hollow Road in West Dundee at the Schweitzer Forest Preserve. Arrive at noon if you would like a tour of the house. Participants are invited to bring their mothers.

Refreshments will be served.

Mothers also can take a starter peat pot of milkweed seed home. Participants will be served pizza and dessert. They will be cleaning garden beds, weeding, and spreading mulch in this outdoor workday.

Bring your own rake and loppers if possible; they will have gloves and trowels.

Attendees should dress for the weather; wear sturdy, waterproof shoes, a hat, sunscreen and a long-sleeved shirt.

The Schweitzer Environmental Center, run by volunteers, is used all year long for programs, meetings, and classes. The Friends of the Fox River lease the center from the Forest Preserve District of Kane County in partnership with Community Unit District 300.
