University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee joins CLC's Guaranteed Transfer Admission program

The College of Lake County and University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee recently signed a Guaranteed Transfer Admission agreement. CLC students who transfer to UW-Milwaukee to complete a bachelor's degree will be guaranteed acceptance while completing the requirements in their particular degree.

Karen Hlavin, vice president for student development, said that UWM is a great addition to CLC's Guaranteed Transfer Admission program due to its academic reputation, breadth of degree programs and close proximity. "Through this partnership, we're offering our students yet another high-quality option near Lake County," Hlavin said. "We can now provide qualified students an opportunity to plan their transfer to UWM several semesters in advance and take advantage of advising from both institutions."

Michael Garamoni, UWM manager of Illinois recruitment, said, "Establishing this agreement helps provide a clearer academic transition for CLC transfer students continuing their studies at UWM. The proximity of our campus to Lake County provides transfer students convenient access to a leading research university and a connection to the academic, cultural and career opportunities available on campus and in Milwaukee's growing knowledge economy."

One Lake County resident who made a smooth transition northward is Grace August, who earned an A.A. from CLC last May and now is a marketing major at UWM. "My advisors at both schools helped to identify my best pathway to graduating efficiently and achieving my academic goals," said August, who is planning to earn her bachelor's degree in 2019 and pursue a career in marketing and advertising. "I was very satisfied with the process and am enjoying my UWM and Milwaukee experience."
