The Danish Home of Chicago Welcomes New Staff

The Danish Home of Chicago, a 127-year-old senior living community nestled graciously in the quiet neighborhood of Norwood Park, has recently added three new staff members to its tight-knit team of administrators, caregivers, dining and maintenance professionals, medical director and chaplain.

"We are thrilled to welcome these qualified individuals, who are dedicated to providing our staff and residents the top-notch commitment and care we're known for at The Danish Home," said president and CEO Scott Swanson.

Richard Brayer

Development Manager

Recently hired Richard Brayer said being at The Danish Home fulfills his passion to work for the "greater good and give back." Brayer has over 25 years of experience in marketing and leadership in not-for-profit organizations. At The Danish Home, he manages a $10 million fundraising campaign to make capital improvements, provide charitable care for residents, and build up the endowment fund of The Danish Home Foundation.

A graduate of the University of Illinois with an MBA from Loyola University of Chicago, Brayer conducts research for individual, Foundation and corporate prospects for the campaign. He is also the primary liaison to The Danish Home's 200-member Women's Auxiliary and manages other fundraising efforts and all related administrative duties.

Debi Lathom

Residency Counselor

"I applied for this position because of my love for the senior community and am blessed that The Danish Home chose me to continue providing exceptional service for our residents and community," said Debi Lathom, who was hired last month.

Lathom is responsible for scheduling, coordinating and planning events as well as providing tours and admissions for new residents and assisting Swanson. The Winnetka native and graduate of MacCormac College in Elmhurst was formerly employed as a paralegal and legal assistant for the City of Des Plaines and the Village of Northfield.

Fred Saviano

Chief Financial Officer

Fred Saviano has been employed in the senior housing arena for the past 10 years. "I like working in this service line because it gives me the opportunity to witness the value and impact we have on the lives of older adults," he said. Employed in healthcare since 1979, he provides financial leadership to ensure long-term fulfillment of The Danish Home mission.

Saviano, who has a degree in accounting and an MBA in finance and healthcare administration, also provides essential financial information, enabling shrewd decision-making on the part of The Danish Home management, its board of directors and outside interested organizations.

"Our team is well-rounded and strong," said Swanson. "We're all working toward a bright future to match The Danish Home's historic and shining past."
