Pet owners invited to an evening of play with new Fun Walk event

Many people consider their four-legged friends to be more than just pets. The Batavia Park District understands that, and in fact, a large number of district staff have their own pets they consider to be part of their family and strive to provide more recreation opportunities for pet owners.

The park district will kick off a new event this year with the Bulldog Jog 3K Thursday, April 26.

The event will feature the rescheduled Doggie Egg Hunt beginning at 6 p.m., at the Bark Park at West Main Community Park, 40W101 W. Main St., followed by a 1.8-mile fun walk throughout the park.

A variety of vendors will be on-site during the event, distributing freebies, samples and fun prizes.

This event is being offered in conjunction with the Bulldogs Unleashed public art project group and they will have spring puppy statue order pickups available during the event.

Park district staff will also have a special "Decorate Your Dog" tent on-site at the Bark Park for any individuals interested in decorating their puppy statues, free.

On-site registration will begin at 5:30 p.m.

The cost is $10 per dog for either the Doggie Egg Hunt or the Bulldog Jog 3K, or you may choose to participate in both activities for $15.

A portion of the Doggie Egg Hunt proceeds will benefit Anderson Animal Shelter. The first 50 individuals or families to register for the Bulldog Jog 3K also will receive a gift, courtesy of the Batavia Park District.

For more information about the event or to register, call (630) 879-5235 or visit www.bataviaparks.org.

The Bulldog Jog 3K is presented in cooperation with the Bulldogs Unleashed and sponsored by the Batavia Animal Clinic and DePauw University.
