Palatine Jaycees Offer Free Leadership Training Seminar

The Palatine Jaycees are hosting a free leadership training titled Building Leadership with Empathy on April 28, 2018 at the Palatine Community Center at 250 E. Wood Street in the Band Room on the second floor from 9:30 am to 11:30 am.

The training will be led by Lou Agosta, Ph.D., a professor and psychotherapist that specializes in empathy research, therapy and training. Individuals must sign up on the Palatine Jaycees website at www.palatinejaycees.org/empathy-training/. Tickets are free and there are 80 spots available. Registration will be open at 8:45 am and the doors will close promptly at 9:30.

"Part of the mission of the Jaycees is to create leadership opportunities for individuals ages 21 to 40," said Barbara Cima, president of the Palatine Jaycees. "We are excited to share this training with our members and other young individuals in the community that are seeking leadership training opportunities."

"We chose the subject of empathy because it is a foundation for a better community" said project chair Sarah Harwerth-De Marco. "This two-hour seminar will help Palatine Jaycee members and others in the community learn how to 'put his or herself in someone else's shoes.' Empathy is a key part of leadership development and is a necessity in the modern workplace for moral and for bottom-line."

Lou Agosta, Ph.D., will provide a set of tools to practice empathy in our daily lives. This can apply to interactions with your family, customers, colleagues, friends and others in the community to improve relationships. Empathy can be used to reduce conflict, expand productivity and attain and sustain emotional equilibrium.
