Oak Brook Polo Club sets schedule for 96th season

Oak Brook Polo Club is preparing for its 96th season, which will bring nine Sundays of polo to the Western suburbs this summer.

The season opens Sunday, June 10, with Chicago Polo Day at the Prince of Wales Field, 2606 York Road, Oak Brook.

Oak Brook Polo, which was privatized from the village of Oak Brook 2016, is led by Jim Drury.

"The tradition of Sunday polo at Oak Brook has been one of incomparable fun and excitement, the likes of which you may never have experienced - and will certainly never forget," Drury said.

Oak Brook Polo Club heads into its 96th season as one of the nation's oldest polo clubs in operation. The season marks the 40th anniversary of the last time Oak Brook hosted the U.S. Open Polo Championship, which was last played in Oak Brook in 1978.

The 2018 schedule includes the return of popular matches including Horses and Horsepower, the Butler Challenge Cup and the Chicago Polo Cup. Oak Brook Polo will introduce the Heartland Cup, which will host the 2018 Midwest Jaguar Concours d'Elegance, and will add the Caribbean Cup to the schedule.
