Visiting chef Randy Waidner brings gourmet French cuisine to ECC campus restaurant

Visiting chef and Chicago native Randy Waidner will prepare a transcending French dinner at 6 p.m. Thursday, April 12, in the Spartan Terrace Restaurant in Elgin Community College's Culinary Arts Center, Building I, 1700 Spartan Drive, Elgin.

Chef Waidner will work side by side with ECC Culinary Arts and Hospitality students to prepare a special, five-course evening meal with authentic French dishes and wine.

The menu features an ale-battered frog leg lollipop; pan-seared diver scallop with sea urchin butter emulsion and fresh pea blooms; butter-basted filet mignon with seared foie gras and parsnip puree; a French charcuterie plate; and an apple tarte Tatin with vanilla caramel sauce and Szechuan peppercorn ice cream.

Reservations are $60 per person and available by calling the ECC Arts Center Box Office at (847) 622-0300 or online at tickets.elgin.edu.

The deadline to purchase tickets is 5 p.m. Saturday, April 7.
