MCC student group to host Take Back the Night April 11

The Student Peace Action Network at McHenry County College will host the eighth annual "Take Back the Night" from 5 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 11, a domestic violence and sexual violence awareness event. The event will take place in the Luecht Conference Cente, 8900 Route 14 in Crystal Lake.

The event features a resource fair, keynote speakers who are professionals in the field of dealing with sexual assault and concludes with a march outside around campus, ending at a fire pit near the peace pole.

Guest speakers will include Emily Preis, Master of Social Work, prevention and education advocate for Turning Point; Jessica Caccavallo, Master of Social Work, a licensed social worker and prevention education coordinator for the Northwest Center Against Sexual Assault (Northwest CASA); Joan Rebacz, registered nurse and clinical nurse specialist in Emergency Services at Centegra Hospital-McHenry; and Katie Gaughan-Palombi, J.D., staff attorney for the Chicago Domestic Violence Legal Clinic.

The event is free and open to the public. The McHenry County Mental Health Board will provide 1.5 free CEU's for social workers, professional counselors and psychologists.
