Faith Lutheran Church to host eighth annual Egg Drop March 31

All eyes will be on the sky as youngsters in the Fox Valley gather at Faith Lutheran Church in Aurora for the eighth annual Egg Drop.

Candy and treats will be falling from the sky during the "Helicopter-Dropped Easter Egg Hunt" on Saturday, March 31.

Treats will be dropped from the air for children, age 12 or younger, from a helicopter that will be flying low overhead.

Children are in for a special treat, if they pick up the golden egg. A special prize will be given out to the 100 people who have the golden ticket, or in this case, the golden egg.

The Rev. Rob Douglas said the congregation wanted to have a community Easter egg hunt but wanted to do something different, to get the attention of those looking for a family event on the Saturday morning before Easter.

An estimated 1,500-people attended the hunt last year, and it has become a tradition with families for Easter weekend.

The candy drop begins at 11 a.m., with children being divided into three age group.

After the egg search is complete, children are urged to go inside the church where a photographer will be on hand to take pictures with the bunny. Refreshments will be served and the Chick-fil-A mascot will be on hand to give out sandwiches.

Douglas said everyone is invited to the event held at the church, 3000 Liberty St., off Eola Road. The community is also invited to celebrate Easter Sunday at the church at 8, 9:30 and 11 a.m. Visit www.discoveringfaith.com/im-new/egg-drop.
