Bartlett High theater group named IHSA Sectional champion

Bartlett High School's 2018 Group Interpretation theatrical production of "Forrest Gump" by Eric Roth and Winston Groom competed in the IHSA Group Interpretation Sectional Competition Saturday, March 17, at Lake Park High School.

They competed against nine other schools and took first place, which advanced them to the IHSA Group Interpretation State Competition at the Peoria Civic Center.

This was the first time that Bartlett High School, or any U-46 high school, had won the IHSA Sectional Competition for Group Interpretation, and the second time that Bartlett High School advanced to the IHSA State tournament.

Furthermore, seven out of the 13 cast members received the All-Sectional Cast Award for their excellence in acting and outstanding performance.

Actors needed to receive at least three of the five judges' votes to earn this award. Recipients were: Evan Neilson (Forrest Gump); Lexi Colatorti (Jenny); Rhianna Christensen (Mrs. Gump); Alden Williams (Bubba); Sean Barry (Young Forrest); Naomi Latta (Ensemble); and John Sheehan (Musician).

Additional cast members included: Zach Barry (Ensemble); Chloe Fox (Ensemble); Andrew Leardi (Lieutenant Dan); Rachel Montesano (Ensemble); Lukas Munoz (Ensemble); and Victoria Zbizek (Young Jenny).

Samantha Martino and Cody Miller were the assistant student directors, and the technical crew included: Jack Garity, Julian Hernandez, Julia Kleinfall, James Loska, Nathan O'Brien, Kayla Ramirez, Christina Schuster, Matthew Selig, Andrew Viveros, and Hailey Wronski.

Production staff included Director Mike Miserendino and Assistant Directors Dave Goldman and Linda Baker.
