Vineyard hosts egg hunt, vigil service on Easter weekend

Bring the kids to a free Easter egg hunt hosted by Vineyard Church of Elgin on Saturday, March 31.

For children up to age 12, the fun begins at 10 a.m. at Wing Park, 1000 Wing St. in Elgin. This event is open to the public.

Later that night, Vineyard will spend six hours in worship with an Easter Vigil from 6 p.m. to midnight.

Everyone is welcome to this event as well. People are invited to drop in at any time and stay as long as they are able.

The style of worship changes up every hour. Quiet, devotional music begins at 6, 8 and 10 p.m. Corporate worship begins at 7 and 11 p.m., and the 9 p.m. hour will feature a drum circle.

On Sunday, March 25, the speaker will be church member Halie Howells, a licensed marriage and family therapist, at Elgin Vineyard, 220 Division St.

Her message is titled "The Gospel and Freedom." Drawing from the first part of Galatians 5, Howells will talk about the freedom that believers can enjoy as followers of Christ.

Services begin at 9 and 11 a.m., with coffee at 8:30 and 10:30 a.m., and everyone is welcome.
