League of Women Voters to host 'Community Conversation' April 30

The public is invited to a "Community Conversation" entitled, "Bridging the Political Divide with Civil Discourse."

The League of Women Voters of Central Kane County will sponsor the program, which will begin at 7 p.m. Monday, April 30 in the Carnegie Room of the St. Charles Public Library, 1 S. Sixth Ave. The program will feature legislators from both sides of the aisle as well as a student from Geneva High School, one of the original Democracy Schools. The legislators will be state Rep. Steve Andersson and state Rep. Linda Chapa LaVia.

The panel will respond to questions including, "How did the level of incivility in the 2016 election affect you personally?" "Do you see Springfield becoming more civil or less?" "How has legislation been impacted by incivility and extreme partisanship in Springfield?" " What ideas do you have for fostering civil discourse on divisive issues?" "What ideas do you have for fostering civil discourse on divisive issues in politics?"
