Japanese Exchange Students Visit Elk Grove Village

On Thursday, March 13, a group of nine Japanese Exchange Students from Ashikodai High School and Ashitandai High School toured the Elk Grove Village Municipal Complex.

The students started their visit with Mayor Craig Johnson in the Village's Council Chambers. Students had the opportunity to learn about local government and ask questions directly to the Mayor about his years of experience as an elected official for the Village. The exchange students then toured the Village's Police Station and Biesterfield Fire Station #7 to learn about the day-to-day responsibilities of police officers and firefighters, and get a close-up look at the equipment they use.

This marks the 30th annual Japanese Exchange Program, which is coordinated by Elk Grove High School. The Japanese Exchange Program is supported by Japanese and American companies and the three participating schools, as well as their parent associations, student councils and host families.
