YWCA Lake County to hold Economic Empowerment Summit

More than 150 community members are expected to participate in YWCA Lake County's Economic Empowerment Summit from 7 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday, April 7, at the University Center of Lake County in Grayslake.

Drawing a diverse representation of participants, the summit aims to promote professional, personal and economic empowerment through education. The half-day enrichment program, titled "Being Empowered Starts with Feeling Empowered," will have Chief Jennifer Witherspoon, legal liaison-in house counsel at the Lake County Sheriff Office, as its keynote speaker.

"The YWCALC continues to put economic empowerment at the front and center of our work," said Treopia Cannon, president/CEO. "By harnessing the impact of education, we are able to provide unprecedented opportunities for women and their families to experience real and tangible success in their lives, resulting to self-sufficiency."

The summit will offer various relevant topics, ranging from "Improving your Business Efficiency" and "Developing the Leader within You" to "Critical Identifiers of Mental Illness."

It will also feature finance, health and leadership professionals, including YWCALC staff, who will present the various topics in both English and in Spanish.

Participants will be able to choose from the six sessions, tackling various subjects and creating a platform to share best practices and networking opportunities, and earning Continuing Education Units.
