Adler Center Celebrates Centennial with Exhibition of David Adler's Rarely-Seen Work

The Adler Center prepares to showcase the work of its reclusive namesake in a new exhibition featuring the life and work of renowned architect, David Adler. This April, the Adler Centennial Exhibition will celebrate the past, present, and future of the Adler estate with an interactive exhibition featuring many never-before-seen designs, sketches, and postcards from Adler's collection.

The community is invited to a Preview Party on Friday, April 6 from 6 - 8 pm. The event will feature guided architectural tours of the Adler estate and the exhibition. Guests will also see designs for the Adler Center's new master plan, a far-reaching effort to preserve the estate for the next 100 years. VR goggles will allow guests to experience the "Adler Estate of the future" in 3-D.

The Adler Centennial Exhibition Preview Party is open to the public, and donations are suggested. The Centennial Exhibition runs through April 19 and is open and free to the public.

One of the most important architects of the age of the "Great American House," Adler was lauded for his love of symmetry, and the enormous variety of styles in his work. He used his Libertyville home as an architectural laboratory, experimenting with European designs that would later appear in the grand homes of his North Shore clients. He left his estate to the Village of Libertyville, and the site was named to the National Register of Historic Places in 1999.

See the exhibition April 6 - 19, Monday - Thursday from 9 am - 8pm, Fridays from 9 am - 7 pm, and Saturdays from 9 am - 2 pm. Admission is free.
