March 17: CLC women's conference stresses empowerment, healthy living

Defining your own success, and practical topics such as healthy eating and financial planning, are part of the sixth annual "Empowering the Woman in You: Shattering the Glass Ceiling," a free symposium from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, March 17 at the College of Lake County. The event, which is open to Lake County women age 16 and older, will take place in Lower Level A Wing of the Grayslake Campus, 19351 W. Washington St.

The keynote speaker is Lisa Wilkerson, a Lake County-based marketing executive who will discuss how each woman can achieve her full potential based on her own definition "breaking the glass ceiling," or overcoming workplace sexism in order to advance professionally.

Breakout sessions cover getting your story published, healthy eating and financial planning. A complimentary boutique includes the distribution of free, gently used business attire for job interviews.

Registration and a free continental breakfast begin at 8:30 a.m. The event also includes a free lunch buffet. Register by March 16 at https://clcwomanempower2018.eventbrite.com.
