Woodland Wildcat Summer Adventures is Back With New, Fun Learning Opportunities

The day-long Wildcat Summer Adventures program is returning to Woodland District 50 this year with the addition of the arts.

The summer school program this year is offering STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art and math) while last year there was STEM (science, technology, engineering and math). Plus, students will also have language arts, math and recreation.

Parents will enroll their students in a grade-level class, and the classes will be differentiated by WSA teachers to meet the needs of all learners. Each student will be expected to be in attendance from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Mondays through Thursdays, from June 11 through June 28. Classes will be held at Woodland Intermediate School, 1115 N. Hunt Club Road, in Gurnee.

"We are really excited about what's to come this summer for our students. We have added an art component to our day through STEAM and have adjusted the schedule to allow more time for hands-on, exploratory learning,"

said Jordan Anderson, Director of Wildcat Summer Adventures.

In collaboration with the Gurnee Park District, Woodland parents may sign up for before- or after-school care services at the park district. Transportation between the park district and the Intermediate School would be handled by Woodland District 50.

The cost for summer school is $350 per child. The transportation fee is $80 per child.

Woodland's half-day ESY (Extended School Year) for special needs students will operate separately, from June 18 through July 19.

At Wildcat Summer Adventures, breakfast is optional and students will also have the option of buying a hot lunch or bringing a cold lunch. Students who are participating in the free and reduced lunch program may use that for summer school as well.

Registration will be available through April 1.
