College of Lake County opens registration March 8 for summer and fall classes

Begin your bachelor's degree, work toward an associate degree or certificate, start a new career or develop your talents at the College of Lake County. Registration opens March 8 for Summer Session, which offers two start dates: May 15 and June 4; and for Fall Semester, which begins Aug. 20. To view course offerings and learn how to become a CLC student, visit www.clcillinois.edu/summer or www.clcillinois.edu/fall.

Students who attend other colleges and universities and are back in Lake County this summer can register for specific summer courses and defer prerequisites at the time of registration. CLC also is offering several options designed to help transfer students meet science lab requirements at CLC this summer.

In just three weeks, students can complete an intro to biology or chemistry lab-only course during Intersession (May 15 to June 1) and then take the next level during the eight-week Summer Session. CLC created these new lab-only courses for reverse transfer students who have already taken a lecture-based course and need to quickly complete the lab requirement.

The cost of taking 9 credit hours at CLC this summer is $1,342, less than one-third the cost of an Illinois public university (based on average per-credit-hour tuition and fees in 2017-18).

CLC's Guaranteed Transfer Admission Partnership allows CLC students to be admitted to one of 23 local, regional or international partner institutions by meeting program requirements. This ensures a seamless transfer of credit to the four-year colleges and universities. For information, visit www.clcillinois.edu/gta.

The Promise Program is accepting applicants from current high school seniors who will enter CLC in the fall. The program covers the gap between federal and state financial aid and tuition and fees for qualifying students. It requires students to develop a two-year academic plan, create a career or transfer plan and participate in leadership and professional development activities. For details, visit www.clcillinois.edu/promise.

If you want to complete short-term training to become a truck driver, real estate agent, information technology professional, pharmacy technician or veterinary technician, view a list of continuing professional development programs and information sessions at www.clcillinois.edu/professional.

CLC also offers an array of noncredit personal enrichment courses, on topics such as fitness, music, computers, dance, history, creative arts and more, for students of all ages, from children through retirees. Summer Explore Camps offer dozens of fun-filled learning experiences to kids in grades 1-12 that start June 11. Camp registration is open. If you need to complete your high school equivalency, learn English as a Second Language or build basic competency in reading, writing and math, the Adult Basic Education and ESL division offers free courses at all three campuses and other Lake County locations that also begin Aug. 20 and Sept. 10.
