Wauconda FBLA, National Honor Society Team Up to Help the Hungry

On Wednesday, February 21, 65 members of Wauconda Future Business Leaders of America and National Honor Society traveled to Feed My Starving Children in Libertyville, Illinois. Together, they packed enough food to feed 115 children for one year.

NHS Vice President and FBLA Officer Emilie Washer noted, "it was amazing to be able to give to children who don't get meals every single day and I enjoyed working alongside my fellow fbla members to contribute to such a wonderful cause."

After the shift, Feed My Starving Children staff informed the students that they packed 42,120 meals that would be sent to Malawi, one of 70 countries Feed My Starving Children sends meals to.

Nik Bilyk, Senior Team Leader for Feed My Starving Children in Libertyville, commented that Feed My Starving Children "welcomed more than 1.2 million volunteers to pack 334 million meals," adding that each volunteer, on average, packs 1.25 boxes per shift. He observed that student groups "bring lots of energy [to FMSC]" and that several groups have set records for most boxes packed.
