Local club welcomes Australian guest for tour

On March 7-9, Sara Kenny, representing Associated Country Women of the World from Badgingarra, Australia, will be visiting the Kane County Association for Home and Community Education.

The two groups are affiliates sharing many same goals through objectives of community concerns.

Kenny and her husband live in Western Australia operating a large sheep and grain farm. She currently is the State International Coordinator.

During her visit in Illinois, she will stay with eight host homes and attend the Illinois Association for Home and Community Education annual conference in Effingham, March 13-15.

This year, Illinois is celebrating its bicentennial and the Association of Home and Community Education its 100th anniversary.

Hosting the Kane County visit will be Elgin resident Nancy Haire, chairwoman of the Plato Center HCE Unit.

The three-day stay includes visits at grain and dairy farms, Fermilab, Frank Lloyd Wright-designed Muirhead Farm House, and a day in Chicago.

Concluding her time in Kane County there will be a "meet and greet" session at 11 a.m. Friday, March 9, at the University of Illinois Extension Office, 535 Randall Road in St. Charles. For information, contact Joan at (847) 931-8120.
