Women of Bethel United Church of Christ to host annual Spring Tea April 21

On Saturday, April 21, the Women of Bethel will hold their 20th annual Spring Tea at 12:30 p.m. in Bethel United Church of Christ's Welcome Center, 315 E. St. Charles Road in Elmhurst.

The event features a full-tea menu in an elegant setting followed by dramatic book reviewer Jenny Riddle's one-woman show, "Tiny Tips for a Big Life: 8 Books to Inspire, Intrigue, Entertain, Maybe Even Change You." She will dramatize four of the books "in character" and distill salient advice from four other interesting and timely books. The program covers such themes as the role of empathy in good communication and building strong relationships, overcoming the negative stories we tell ourselves, rising above adversity and setbacks, being true to who we are, and the joys and benefits of getting older. Everyone will leave armed with helpful tips, inspiration, and memorable stories.

Tickets, available beginning March 26, are $25 per person and must be purchased in advance.

Seating is limited. Tickets for the program only (without tea) are $10 at the door. The program begins at 1:45 p.m. Call (630) 834-6254 for ticket availability and information. Spring Tea guests are invited to wear hats.

Church facilities are fully accessible and parking is available behind the church. Please enter from St. Charles Road or Huntington Lane off Poplar.

A portion of the proceeds from the Spring Tea helps support the Elmhurst Shoe Fund, a Women of Bethel-administered program which so far in the 2017-18 school year has provided over $2,455 in vouchers to 24 families in Elmhurst schools to purchase footwear for their children. Rotary Club of Elmhurst and First United Methodist Church are also major contributors. A number of other local churches, service clubs and individuals also give to the Elmhurst Shoe Fund.
