City of Elgin invites you to 'March into Health' with 2018 kickoff events

The 2018 edition of March into Health will kick off at 10 a.m. Thursday, March 1, at Elgin Community College, with a program titled "Rethinking March Madness: Revolutionizing Healthy Living."

"March into Health" is a month-long series of programs and activities offered throughout the Elgin area promoting physical activity and healthy eating.

"We are very concerned about the health of our residents and it has been proven that the best way to be healthy is through staying active and eating properly," said Mayor David Kaptain. "I want to encourage all Elgin residents to participate in the March into Health activities so they can reap the rewards of good health."

Presented by Activate Elgin, "March into Health" will feature 24 different programs and activities that residents can participate in between March 1 and March 28.

These activities will be offered at various times and partner sites throughout Elgin and offer participants the opportunity to attend fun events and possibly win great prizes.

Gail Borden Public Library, 270 N. Grove Ave., will host a large kick-off event from 1 to 3:30 p.m. Saturday, March 3, with a multi-faceted family event, featuring CircEsteem Family Performance and Interactive Family Fun.

The event also will include healthy snack sampling, a roaming fruit juggler, craft activities and partner informational tables.

The event, which is free and open to all, also will be awarding some great raffle prizes.

Details of all 24 of the events can be found on a flyer that can be downloaded from the Activate Elgin website, activateelgin.org.

The flyer with the event details can also be picked up at any of the partner facilities.
