Theatre Guild seeks actors for 'She Loves Me'

Glen Ellyn's Village Theatre Guild is holding auditions in mid-March for this summer's production of the musical "She Loves Me."

The plot revolves around shop employees who, despite being consistently at odds with each other at work, are unaware that each is the other's secret pen pal.

Auditions for the show are scheduled for 7 to 10 p.m. Friday, March 16; 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday, March 17; and 7 to 10 p.m. Wednesday, March 21, in Southminster Presbyterian Church's Fellowship Hall, 680 S. Park Blvd., Glen Ellyn.

Actors should prepare one minute of a musical theater song in the style of the show that best shows off their voice for the primary audition, and bring a second selection as a backup.

They should bring sheet music in their key; an accompanist will be provided. A CD with an accompaniment-only track is also acceptable, provided it is edited and cued correctly. A cappella auditions are not acceptable.

The audition also will require actors to learn a short dance/movement combination and do cold readings from the script. Scenes will be available in advance at villagetheatreguild.org.

The show will be presented at 8 p.m. May 25 and 26 and June 1, 2, 8, 9, 15 and 16, and at 3 p.m. June 2, 3, 9, 10 and 16 at the Village Theatre Guild, near the northwest corner of Park Boulevard and Butterfield Road in Glen Ellyn.

The show will be directed by Terry Kozlowski and produced by Renata Allelujka. Jim Stahulak is the music director, and Cheryl Pold is the choreographer.
