Blackhawks Patrick Sharp to visit local school as part of Goodwill's Pass It On Donation Challenge

As part of the Goodwill's Pass It On Donation Challenge, Old Quarry Middle School in Lemont won a visit from three-time Stanley Cup champion, Olympic gold medalist and Chicago Blackhawks forward Patrick Sharp.

The school has 814 students and they donated nearly 35,000 items to Goodwill.

The challenge had 1,115 metropolitan Chicago schools participating and the other top schools were Park View in Morton Grove and Carl Sandburg Junior High in Rolling Meadows.

This is the seventh year Goodwill has sponsored this event and the schools and communities really rallied around the Pass It On promotion. All participating schools, in just one month, donated nearly 1 million items - amazing!

Old Quarry Middle School is planning an all-school assembly to welcome Patrick Sharp at 12:45 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 27, at the school, 16100 W. 127th St., Lemont, IL 60439.

Goodwill Industries of Metropolitan Chicago sees this donation challenge as a way for the organization to publicize its commitment to the environment through reusing, reducing and recycling, and do so with a promotion that is fun and exciting with well-respected sports figure in Patrick Sharp and the partnership with the Chicago Blackhawks.
