The Palatine Jaycees were honored for their work in the Palatine area by the Jaycee organization on a state level for 2017 achievements at the Illinois Jaycees Year-end General Assembly on January 27, 2018.

The Palatine Jaycees were the overall winner in the areas of Community Programming for 2017 in the State of Illinois and one the Parade of Chapter for 2017. Contributing to this honor, the Palatine Jaycees received a number of individual state recognition awards for 2017 - Outstanding Local Officer, Courtney Kulig; Outstanding State Director, Robert Doty; Outstanding Treasurer Danielle Green, and Rookie of the Year for the State, Stephanie Stopka. The Palatine Jaycees also received a project award for the Best Skill Development Single Project Entry, Diamond Anniversary Celebration.

"We are honored by the recognition we have received from our peers," said Sarah Harwerth-De Marco, 2017 Palatine Jaycee President. "We are always proud to be supportive members of our community. These awards are wonderful because they recognize the work we do for the community and the quality of people we have in our Chapter."

Every year, the Palatine Jaycees conduct numerous programs to serve the community and accumulate funds for operation of the chapter and community events, grants and scholarships. Included in these projects are Hometown Fest (Fourth of July festival), Christmas tree sales, Easter Egg Hunt, STEM Fair and others, which benefit the community directly and help raise money.

The Palatine Chapter of the Jaycees, one of 50 local chapters throughout Illinois, has over 130 members and is one of the largest chapters in Illinois. The Jaycees provide individuals between the age of 21 and 40 the opportunity to develop personal and leadership skills while serving their community and have been recognized state-wide, nationally and internationally for their efforts.

The Palatine Chapter holds their monthly general meeting on the third Thursday of the month at 7:30 PM at the American Legion Hall on Palatine Road in Palatine.
